This summer, after many rumours, we saw Iliman Ndiaye leaving Sheffield United for Marseille. The French club spent €17m on his signing, tying him to a contract until 2028.

Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday, the 23-year-old gave some details about the move that took him to Ligue 1.

In quotes relayed by Le10Sport, Ndiaye claims it wasn’t easy to make a decision to leave Sheffield United, even though he’s happy with the summer transfer.

“There are many reasons for this choice. It was hard to choose between the Premier League and my favourite club. Playing European matches was part of my decision. It was a tough choice and I thought it through very carefully. I think I made the right decision by joining OM,” said Ndiaye.

Sheffield United signed Ndiaye back in 2019, when they brought him from Boreham Wood’s academy. In his time with the Blades, the striker played 88 games, with 22 goals and 14 assists, consequently drawing the interest from a few European clubs.

Even AC Milan were linked with him at the end of the season, but it was the French side who ended up finding a deal with the Blades.

Since arriving at Marseille, Ndiaye has already made ten appearances, and scored his first goal in their last league match against AS Monaco at the weekend. Despite his goal and an assist, they ended up losing the game 3-2.

Sheffield United suffered a 8-0 crushing defeat against Newcastle United at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

Operating as a centre-back, Anel Ahmedhodžić played the full 90 minutes for the Blades and didn’t hold back when making his feelings known after the defeat to the Magpies. He made these comments to Sweden’s Viaplay, relayed by Fotbollskanalen.

Taking Sheffield United’s poor display into account, the 24-year-old has insisted that Newcastle deserved to win by a huge margin.

“Considering how many mistakes we made today, and that it was 8-0, it’s embarrassing. But they deserved to win by so much,” he said.

“We need to fight more. Today we were not ourselves. We didn’t run like we used to and didn’t fight like we usually fight. We just weren’t that focused, and if you’re not focused in the best league in the world, you’re going to lose this big.”

Sheffield United returned to the top flight after finishing second in the Championship last season. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has suggested to his teammates that they cannot afford to make the mistakes they made against Eddie Howe’s side.

“There were too many mistakes. It’s not the Championship, every mistake becomes a goal. There was too much missing with concentration and such things. It was not my day, there is not much more to say about it,” Ahmedhodžić explained.

Sheffield United are bottom of the table with a point from six games and their poor start to the season has led to reports suggesting Paul Heckingbottom’s future at the club could be in danger.

On that, the defender said: “I haven’t heard anything, and I don’t focus on such nonsense,” he added.

Bosnia and Herzegovina have been warned that they cannot afford to get rid of Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmehodžić despite his recent decision not to turn up for international duty.

Former Bosnian international turned coach Feđa Dudić has commented on the Sheffield United man and why his international future cannot be brought to a premature end.

Ahmehodžić has found himself in hot water with his country after failing to turn up for duty in this international break despite being called up.

Reports in his homeland reported that he had ignored calls from team managers and players alike after failing to show up with the rest of the group.

The Sheffield United man later explained his absence was due to a minor injury which he felt had ruled him out, apologising for taking matters into his hands before then hinting at unspoken issues with the national team.

It’s since been explained that he will face disciplinary action over the incident, with Bosnia looking to speak to him before deciding what to do.

One potential outcome is that he is banned from international football completely, but Dudić says doing so to the Sheffield United man would be an unwise decision.

“I watched the young national team against Slovenia, I don’t see a bright future there. Maybe 1-2 players stand out. Realistically, we do not have a bright future,” he said.

“That’s why we must not give up on Anel Ahmedhodžić. Who can say that he doesn’t want to play for BiH? If he didn’t want to, he would play for Sweden. He gave BiH the advantage at the moment when he was a hit in Malmö and could choose.

“It is certain that there is something that is bothering him, that there is a background to his non-appearance. People, he plays in the Premier League, that’s where the situation has to be resolved.

“If he needs to be punished financially, he has to play for BiH. If we want good, some things must come to light, and they must be removed.

“Former coaches and players must also speak. They are silent while they are there, and even when they leave, they say something convoluted, that cannot be done if we want better football in Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodžić faces an inquiry from the Bosnian Football Association into his actions this week after refusing to turn up for international duty.

That’s according to their president Vico Zeljković, who has confirmed that the Sheffield United man will be questioned regarding the ongoings this week.

Ahmedhodžić was included in Bosnia’s squad list for the international fixtures but refused to answer the call, preferring instead to stay in England.

This led to outrage in his homeland, where it was reported that he had ignored calls from team managers and international teammates when they had tried to contact him.

The Sheffield United player later took to social media to explain his stance, apologising but insisting that he had suffered a small injury and decided against linking up with Bosnia in this international break because of it.

He later alluded to problems within the nation’s set up, which led to even more anger in his homeland and calls for him to speak his mind publically on whatever issues he believes exist.

In the meantime, he faces punished from the Bosnian FA for his actions and Zeljković has confirmed that is yet to be handed out, with them instead looking to speak to the player and secure all of the details first.

“As for Anel, it is better that this situation did not happen,” he said.

“To explain, the role of the selector is clear, the selector is the one who makes the list of players and determines who will be called.

“There was always controversy, pressure was put on me to make some influence, and here there are no Snaičanin and Danilović either, so we respect the decisions of the selectors.

“At the suggestion of the selector, the procedure was initiated, Anel has not been punished yet, we will ask for statements from the player himself and we will see what will happen.

“I would not give the freedom to go into those things, but I used the opportunity to draw a line. It is clear that it is known that the selector is the one who decides and not someone else, the selectors are responsible for the results.”

Sheffield United defender Anel Ahmedhodžić was suspended by Bosnia and Herzegovina after failing to respond to numerous efforts from their FA to contact him.

That’s according to SportSport, who cover the developing situation today and explain what led to the country to suspend the Sheffield United defender over his absence from the latest squad.

Reports in Bosnia yesterday emerged stating that Ahmedhodžić had been suspended by his country after failing to turn up for international duty despite being called up for this international break.

Ahmedhodžić later responded to the news on Instagram, admitting his mistake and revealing that he had suffered a small hamstring injury which he believed had ruled him out.

SportSport pick up on that and report that there is no case to be answered and it is a simple matter of the Sheffield United defender having ‘refused to fulfil his obligations’.

They state that Bosnia tried to contact Ahmedhodžić several times on Sunday, with teammates from the national team, with whom he has the ‘best relationship’ also trying and failing.

That was an ‘absolutely reprehensible’ decision from the defender who, even if he was injured, SportSport believe should have travelled and been assessed before being sent back to Bramall Lane.

Instead, they say, he chose to disrespect the national team and its directors, namely Meha Kodra and Zvjezdan Misimović, have decided suspension is a justifiable punishment as a result.

They believe the defender must be taught to understand that the national team jersey is ‘sacred’ and something that must be respected. He did not do that with his actions as far as they are concerned and now an example is being made.

This is despite the defender insisting publically that he is injured and Sheffield United’s medical team submitting a report to the Bosnian FA confirming regarding an injury. That, though, did say it was ‘not of a serious nature’.

SportSport say rather than attending the meeting like other injured layer, making a decision with the professional and medical teams, Ahmedhodžić ‘decided not to follow the rules’. A ‘simply amazing’ decision that they believe is unjustified and deserving of punishment.

They go further and question comments from the defender, with him stating “I think most of us know the problems surrounding the national team” in his post on Instagram.

They question what those problems are and why nobody is talking about them, as while there are plenty of issues that people know about, this seems to relate to something different.

The outlet urges the Sheffield United man to speak up about them and him ‘must talk about’ it publically if he is going to reference them as he has. Otherwise, if he does not speak now then ‘let him be silent forever’.

Whether he does remains to be seen but his refusal to answer calls or turn up for the national team hasn’t gone down well and despite his attempts to dampen the flames, it appears they’ll continue growing during this break.

Sheffield United are in the battle with other clubs for FC Metz star Georges Mikautadze, according to Le10 Sport.

Operating mainly as a striker and at times as a left winger, he managed 23 goals and eight assists from 37 Ligue 2 games last season. He was vital in helping Metz achieve promotion generated interest from other clubs in the process.

It’s claimed both Sheffield United and Lazio have ‘submitted’ proposals of €18m and €15m respectively and this is still short of the €20m fee requested by the French club.

Lyon have now sent an offer close to €20m to sign the 22-year-old. In addition to this, the website states Rennes have made preparations to table a proposal to sign the Georgia international.

Despite Lyon’s offer being better than the one tabled by the Blades, Le10 state Sheffield United are ‘still there’ in the transfer race.

They add it’s not clear whether Metz will decide to part ways with their star. If they do, it’s down to Mikautadze and his decision.

In other words, Sheffield United, Lyon and other clubs that have shown interest in the forward are now waiting for his and Metz’s decision.

Sheffield United are in talks for the signing of Troyes striker Mama Baldé, according to today’s reports from France.

It’s L’Equipe who reveals the negotiations today, claiming the 27-year-old could soon be on his way to the Premier League.

The outlet writes that Sheffield United and Troyes are currently ‘talking’ about the move, discussing a fee worth over €6m.

The report highlights the ‘consistent’ season Baldé had for the Ligue 1 side last season, getting 12 goals and four assists in 35 appearances.

It isn’t very clear how advanced the talks for the move are, but it pretty much sounds like the amount negotiated is something that satisfies both clubs.

Baldé currently holds his peak value at Transfermarkt, standing at €8m, and has a contract with Troyes running until 2025.

In search for a new striker, Sheffield United had recently been linked to AC Milan’s Divock Origi, and now seem to be going after an alternative in the market.

Depending on how much they pay for Baldé, that could be their third most expensive signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Gustavo Hamer for €17.3m and Vini Souza for €12.5m.

On Wednesday, Calciomercato reported Sheffield United have come forward to sign Divock Origi. It was also stated he wants a move to the Premier League after a disappointing debut season at AC Milan.

The Serie A side want to offload the striker and today’s Gazzetta dello Sport state the former Liverpool man would favour a move back to England.

It’s claimed Sheffield United are ‘interested on paper’ but haven’t contacted the Rossoneri officials yet for the 28-year-old.

The Belgium international has already rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia. Since then, Milan haven’t received any proposals for him and Stefano Pioli’s side would hope to work with Origi’s agent to find a solution for him.

Over at Corriere dello Sport, they also state the frontman would welcome a move back to England, where he won the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool.

The newspaper mentions Sheffield United’s interest and also that they made an offer to sign him.

Corriere doesn’t explain the details of the Blades’ offer or the formula they want to secure his services.

However, they do state the formula proposed by Paul Heckingbottom’s side didn’t end up convincing Milan.

Sheffield United have seemingly made their first move to sign AC Milan’s Divock Origi, according to Calciomercato.

The striker left Liverpool as a free agent to join the Serie A side last summer, but his debut season in Italy was a disappointment as he scored two goals and registered one assist from 36 games.

It’s said the 28-year-old ‘wants to return’ to the Premier League where Sheffield United could be an option for him.

Calciomercato say the Blades have come forward to sign the player in the ‘last few hours’. They add Paul Heckingbottom’s side have carried out an ‘in-depth survey’ but haven’t yet made an offer to secure the Belgium international’s services.

The frontman is not included in Stefan Pioli’s plans. The Rossoneri, who are keen to get rid of him, are hoping to close the negotiations, likely with Sheffield United, who are now without Iliman Ndiaye after selling him to Marseille.

Last weekend, TuttoMercatoWeb reported West Ham United are also on the trail of Origi but haven’t tabled an offer just yet, meaning the Hammers could now face a potential battle with Sheffield United to sign the player.

This week, Sheffield United announced the signing of Vini Souza. The midfielder was bought from Lommel SK on a €12m deal, and signed a four-year contract with the Blades.

That transfer got big coverage from the Brazilian media, especially because his former club Flamengo will be getting a percentage of the money.

Now Globo Esporte managed to have a word with Vini Souza, and asked him about the little help he’s giving the Rio de Janeiro side, even if not playing for them anymore.

“About still being able to provide Flamengo with a gain with this negotiation, I’m very satisfied. I was practically born and raised for football within Flamengo and I have a huge affection for the club. I will always be grateful for what they did for me early in my career.”

The player also talked about how glad he is to have joined Sheffield United, as he always wanted to play in English football.

“I’m very happy to be able to fulfil a childhood dream of playing in the Premier League. I’ve worked hard to get here and I hope to do it on the pitch.”

Vini Souza left Brazil back in 2020, when he was bought by Lommel SK on a €2.5m deal with Flamengo. He actually had little hcances to play for the Belgian club, as in the past few seasons, he ended up having loan spells at KV Mechelen and RCD Espanyol.

It was probably with his 37 appearances for the Spanish club last season that he caught Sheffield United’s attention, as he returned to Lommel this summer and was soon sold.
