The media surrounding Ajax is engulfed in growing fury. The club currently find themselves 12th in the Eredivisie, which just won’t do, and everyone is being questioned.

One of those being questioned the most is Chuba Akpom. As part of a column which seems like a general rant at the club’s situation right now, there’s a somewhat disparaging comment towards Luton Town.

It’s stated that rather than playing for an illustrious club such as Ajax, Akpom would, if all things were as Dutch newspaper AD sees them, ‘at best be bouncing around at Luton Town’.

That’s the level it’s deemed the forward has, and it’s a quite unfair stance given he’s only played 92 minutes for the Amsterdam club so far this season.

A separate report in the same newspaper states the player wasn’t worth even half the €12m that Ajax paid for him, which again feels like a reaction which is way over the top.

Akpom scored 29 goals for Middlesbrough last season, should Ajax deem he’s unworthy then they can send him out on loan in January… perhaps presenting an opportunity for Luton Town.

When Luton Town were promoted to the Premier League, it was expected that their main summer transfers would be players with English experience to help the town stay up in their first season.

That is exactly what happened, with all but one of their first-team arrivals coming from clubs around the country, while the other, Ross Barkley, is one who knows the league well.

That’s not all they targeted, however, as Liga de Quito’s director Esteban Paz revealed to Radio Cobertura, relayed by ESPN, that Luton Town also went after Oscar Zambrano, a young defensive midfielder with 14 caps for Ecuador’s U20 team.

He revealed both the Hatters and Ajax Amsterdam tried to sign the 19-year-old, but the bids put forward by both sides were quickly turned down by the Ecuadorian side.

He said: “The transfers didn’t close completely. They were important figures, but the bonuses were not convenient. In any case, the teams remain interested and in contact for when a new market opens.”

That suggests Luton Town are likely to return with a new bid in January for Zambrano, and it’s a story we will be keeping an eye on going forward.

While results have yet to go their way, the Hatters have put in some dogged displays against bigger teams, and will be hoping that they can get their first points of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home next weekend.

FC Midtjylland’s Emiliano Martínez has ended up on the agenda of West Ham United and Luton Town, according to Tipsbladet.

The defensive midfielder joined the Danish club from Red Bull Bragantino last summer and finished his debut season with a goal from 33 games, which included seven Europa League appearances.

His displays in Europe have caught the attention of several clubs, including West Ham and Luton Town.

It’s claimed both David Moyes’ side and the newly promoted Premier League side have asked Midtjylland the conditions needed to carry out his transfer.

Although the two English clubs are in the picture to sign him, the report says they haven’t sent any offers so far.

The Uruguay international’s deal lasts until 2027 and Midtjylland, for their part, don’t intend to sell him. If the Danish club were to consider his sale, Tipsbladet state they would need around DKK 75m [€10m] plus bonuses.

Should West Ham, Luton Town or another club table an offer in this region late in the window, the outlet feels Midtjylland will be ‘compelled to say yes’ and sell the player.

Back in June, Uruguayan journalist Rodri Vázquez said Martínez had an offer from Everton and it’s ‘almost a fact’ that he’ll leave Midtjylland this summer.

We aren’t going to lie to you, we haven’t come across many Luton Town transfer stories abroad since the club was promoted to the Premier League, with the club focusing mostly on players already in England.

While this technically isn’t a transfer from a foreign club, it does involve a foreign player, and that’s why Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri is covering it.

Taking to Twitter, he reveals that Luton Town have ‘found an agreement’ with Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski regarding his personal terms.

This comes after the newly promoted side did the same with the Ewood Park residents for a transfer fee of €3m for the Belgian.

As things stand, all that’s left are for the ‘last details to be checked’, with the medicals to then follow.

After that, we would expect the 30-year-old to put pen to paper on his new Luton Town contract for what will be a tough challenge of helping Rob Edwards and the rest of the team avoid a return to the Championship.

Kaminski joined Blackburn back in 2020 and has since gone on to make 118 appearances for the club, conceding 138 goals and keeping 33 clean sheets.

Manchester City youngster Issa Kaboré is close to joining newly promoted Luton Town on loan for the season.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the deal is dependent on the 22-year-old sanctioning the move personally.

Kaboré has enjoyed a string of loans since joining Manchester City in 2020, moving to Mechelen in Belgium, Troyes and then Marseille.

He is not a part of Manchester City’s plans for next season either and so could now be set to join Luton on yet another loan deal.

They’re looking to bolster their squad after securing promotion to the Premier League and it seems they’re looking at Kaboré as a new option for the right-back spot.

He is ‘yet to confirm his choice’ after returning from his loan spell at Marseille, where he managed 29 games in total last season.

He’s never played a game for Manchester City and that isn’t likely to change this year, but it seems he is as yet undecided whether to head to Luton or wait and see if there are other offers available to him.
