Real Madrid are continuing to position themselves for a potential move to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City, so they can potentially dominate the Ballon D’or in future.

That’s according to AS and journalist Carlos Forjanes, who say the Spanish side want to ‘assault’ the competition and potentially dominate next year’s edition.

The newspaper explains that this year’s ceremony has left the Spanish giants in ‘disbelief’ as, aside from Jude Bellingham winning an award, they were largely absent from proceedings.

They want to change that for next year and they will ‘once again evaluate their options’ to sign two of the players who could dominate it in future, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.

Haaland currently has a release clause in his contract, something which AS dramatically label and ‘escape mechanism’ but those in charge at the Etihad have been ‘actively working’ for weeks to renew it.

Their plan is to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League and link Haaland to the club for the forseeable future without a release clause.

That is ‘increasing the degree of difficulty’ for Madrid in their attempts to lure him to Spain but they’re not giving up, particularly after watching him win the Gerd Müller trophy for the best striker.

That, coupled with him placing second in the overall rankings is something they particularly appreciate.

They see him as the ideal man to fill the hole in their forward line left behind by Karim Benzema’s departure, something they never resolved in the summer, and something who can given them an ‘increasingly greater media accent’, which they value, particularly when it comes to a ‘colossal signing’.

They are increasingly keen to get him from Manchester City and potentially partner him with Bellingham, Mbappé and even Vinicius Junior to dominate the Ballon d’Or in the years to come.

Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has been urged to ignore growing interest from Liverpool and Manchester City, who should not be allowed to sign him ‘under any circumstances’.

That’s according to SportBILD journalist Raimund Hinko, who believes the midfielder cannot be allowed to leave Bayern at any point.

He writes a column to the player today amid growing reports that he could leave the Allianz Arena in the near future.

Reports in Germany have indicated that Musiala could be set to consider his future at Bayern as he is yet to play a starring role under Thomas Tuchel and wants assurances about his future sporting prospects.

Those reports have also indicated that there is no lack of interest in him, with Liverpool and Manchester City both thought to be big admirers.

It was initially Liverpool who were believed to be most keen but their interest reportedly sparked Manchester City into action, with Pep Guardiola believed to see Musiala as the ideal long-term replacement for Kevin de Bruyne.

Neither side have made any moves for him as yet but there was a growing belief that the Premier League rivals could battle it out for Musiala’s signature should he indicate he’s ready to leave Bayern.

Hinko, though, says that cannot be allowed to happen under any circumstances and urged the player to consider his future carefully.

“I am writing to you, dear Jamal, because of the current situation,” he said.

“Out of deep concern that you will be lost to Bayern because they would apparently give the shirt off their back to Real Madrid, Liverpool FC or Manchester City in order to lure you away from Munich. That must not happen under any circumstances.

“At first I assessed the latest news as a storm in a teacup. Because there are always journalists around the world who hear the grass grow.

“But now it went a bit too far for me when Didi Hamann dared to predict as a Sky pundit that you, dear Jamal, will leave Bayern. That they will let you go because there is a big market for you.

“You, dear Jamal, now have a market value of 110 million euros, with an upward limit. There would be good business to be had there. But you would, to use Manuel Neuer’s vocabulary, rip Bayern’s hearts out.

“There would be nothing wrong with Bayern buying Florian Wirtz. If you both played next to each other like you did recently in the national team. But the fans will be most happy if your contract is extended beyond 2026, ideally until 2030. To be honest, and hereby written: Me too.”

Ilkay Gündogan was left disappointed by his treatment at Barcelona when he first arrived from Manchester City in the summer, having ‘expected more’ of the club.

That’s according to Sport, who say the German midfielder ‘showed his anger’ a few days after arriving at the Camp Nou.

The newspaper covers how Gündogan did not bite his tongue after the weekend defeat to Real Madrid, with post-match comments calling out his teammates and calling for more character and a winning mentality to be developed.

This was the first time he’d raised his voice since his arrival from Manchester City in the summer, but, according to Sport, it was not the first time Gündogan was left disappointed with Barcelona.

They explain that a few days after arriving at the club, Gündogan and his family felt ‘little supported’ by the Catalan giants. They had told him he would arrive as a star player, with all the bells and whistles, but this did not prove to be the case.

Instead Gündogan was shocked by the ‘little attention’ he and his family received in his first days at the club.

He had hoped to receive support, particularly of a logistical nature as he was arriving in a new city looking for a house with a child who is only a few months old.

The main focus was the house search, but he also needed support when it came to transportation and the various procedures that come with a big move. Instead, he and his wife were left feeling somewhat ‘abandoned’.

They did not hesitate to convey this complaint to the club, insisting that it was unacceptable and pointing out what could be improved. Barcelona apologised for the way he had been treated.

Gündogan’s disappointment largely came from the fact he had arrived from a slick, oiled machine-like Manchester City whose ‘excellence’ on and off the pitch is well known.

They’ve established a set up that caters to all of their players’ needs, particularly non-sporting matters such as those involved with a big transfer. Gündogan had expected the same from Barcelona given they are ‘more than a club’ but found the complete opposite.

He’s not the only one to have complained, with Sport saying several other unnamed players who have recently arrived have stated similar.

Even though Manchester City only recently looked favourites to sign Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors, it seems this chase is getting a little more complicated.

TNT Sports feature an update on the situation, following reports from Italy saying AC Milan are about to make an offer for him.

The Argentine outlet insists that Manchester City made an approach and came close to placing a bid, but the transfer didn’t happen because the player wanted to feature in the Copa Libertadores.

The latest news from TNT Sports is that Boca Juniors are about to make an offer for a contract renewal. It’s made clear that Barco will ‘hardly stay at the club’, but they want to change his €10m release clause.

There’s a hurry for that new deal to be signed in the coming weeks, so Manchester City should probably get ready for a tougher competition for his signing in the January transfer window.

Boca Juniors will be playing the Copa Libertadores final against Fluminense on Saturday, and it’s very likely his situation will become clearer after the tournament. Either way, that specific issue will now be gone.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has identified Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco as a transfer target, according to InterLive.it.

The Citizens overcame the Nerazzurri to win the Champions League last season and the 25-year-old’s performance in the final reportedly pleased Guardiola.

It’s said the Manchester City coach’s ‘footballing esteem’ towards the left-back has been known for months and he ‘can tempt’ the Serie A side with a €60m offer.

In order to please Guardiola, the report states the treble winners could end up making an assault to sign the Italy international next summer.

Dimarco has managed a goal and four assists from 11 games this season, and his displays have seen him enter the ‘good graces’ of several managers, including Guardiola.

Sergio Gómez is the only recognised left-back at the Etihad while Guardiola has favoured Nathan Aké and Joško Gvardiol ahead of the Spaniard this season. If Dimarco were to arrive at Manchester City, it would help them further strengthen their defence.

The Italian has a contract until 2026 and the outlet says an offer of around €60m could be needed to make the Serie A side ‘falter’.

Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta has recently admitted the need to make at least one big sale after the end of every season, and InterLive.it believe Dimarco may be the one to help his side ‘raise cash’ in the future.

It wasn’t only at Old Trafford that Manchester City and Manchester United officials met each other at the weekend.

According to Portuguese newspapers Record and O Jogo, the two clubs sent scouts to the match between Vizela and FC Porto on Sunday.

Even though Premier League clubs are more used to sending scouts to Benfica, Porto, and Sporting home games, Manchester City and Manchester United decided to watch the Dragons playing away from home this time. That may be a sign they’re very interested in some of their players.

The newspapers do not have any information on potential targets the English sides had their eyes on. Neither of them have been linked to Porto players recently, as despite a few rumours of the Red Devils’ interest in Diogo Costa and Mehdi Taremi, those disappeared since the arrivals of Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund in the summer.

Porto won the match 2-0, and in case Manchester City and Manchester United were waiting to be impressed with specific performances, they may have liked the performance from Eustáquio, who ruled the Dragons’ midfield. Other players such as Jorge Sanchez, João Mário, Alan Varela, Francisco Conceição, Pepê, Evanilson and Taremi did well too.

Manchester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all in the picture to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Exequiel Palacios in January, according to a report.

This season, Xabi Alonso has used him mainly as a defensive midfielder and at times in the middle of the pitch, and he has managed two goals and two assists from nine league games.

According to TNT Sports, Palacios’ form has drawn the attention of several clubs, including those from the Premier League, where Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all mentioned.

It’s claimed the Premier League trio are ‘seriously considering the possibility’ to secure his services in the winter market.

Last month, the Bundesliga side rewarded the Argentina international with a new contract until 2028, and this has helped him increase his valuation.

Despite signing the renewal, the report explains that the interest from Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa presents a ‘tantalising opportunity’ for both the 25-year-old and the Bundesliga side to go ahead with the transfer.

TNT Sports makes no mention as to who among the three English clubs are leading the race and also the fee they could offer to sign Palacios in the next window.

Bayern Munich need to “work hard” to convince Jamal Musiala to stay at the club with Liverpool and Manchester City lurking for him.

That’s according to Sport 1 chief reporter Kerry Hau, who has covered Musiala today amid growing reports about Liverpool and Manchester City’s interest in him.

Reports in England and Germany have claimed that the Premier League duo are both looking at a possible deal for Musiala, potentially next summer, as he considers his position in Bavaria.

The youngster is not pushing for a move away from the Allianz Arena but is believed to be frustrated with a reduced role under Thomas Tuchel this season.

He believes he should be a key player and has big plans for the future, with it explained on several occasions that he wants to win the Ballon d’Or and enjoy a career littered with trophies.

He is questioning whether he can achieve that at Bayern, opening the door to a potential deal and for the suitors to line up.

Liverpool were originally named as the club who were most keen, but Manchester City were quickly added to the queue, with it claimed Pep Guardiola sees Musiala as potentially the best number ten in the world in future and a replacement for Kevin de Bruyne.

The growing feeling is that they could do battle for Musiala’s signature if he ever decides to leave Bayern and Hau says the German champions have work to do to keep the midfielder.

“It is true that he currently has a contract that does not correspond to his performance,” he said.

“He earns eight to nine million from bonuses. That’s not a little for a 20-year-old, but he is still one of the lower earners in the FC Bayern squad.

“It’s not the money that matters to Musiala. He also wants to become a world footballer and then the question arises as to whether he can achieve the title at or with FC Bayern.

“FC Bayern has to work hard to retain the player in the long term.”

Ajax winger Carlos Forbs has insisted he didn’t need to leave Manchester City this summer, and the move to the Netherland was entirely his choice.

Forbs has been speaking to Algemeen Dagblad regarding his career to date after he joined Ajax in a €14m deal from Manchester City this summer.

He had spent the last nine years at the Etihad after joining Manchester City as a youngster from Sporting in July 2014 and working his way up the various youth ranks in the years in between.

He never made a single first team appearance for the club, though, instead spending all of his time playing for the U18s, U21s and the U19s in Europe.

That was presumably the reason behind his decision to leave for Ajax this summer, where he has immediately found himself in the first team and managed 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

On the face of it he looks like one of the many youngsters Manchester City have brought in then moved on for a nice profit, something they continue to do successfully to help balance the books.

Forbs, though, insists that isn’t the case and the decision to leave this summer was entirely of his own making.

“I didn’t have to leave, but in the summer, clubs came along where I knew I had more prospects,” he said.

“The media made me big, but I didn’t really feel like I was getting many opportunities in Manchester. I didn’t know if that would change this season.

“Of course, I already knew that Ajax focuses on youth.  When I heard the plans, I thought okay, I want to try my luck at this club.

“A number of staff members at Manchester City also wanted to see me make the final step after ten years.  Me too, at the club where I grew up, just as it was my parents’ dream.  But I concluded that it was even better to take this opportunity.”

It is “unfair” that Manchester City managed to sign Jeremy Doku this summer, with the battle between him and Jack Grealish just adding another dimension to an already strong team.

That’s according to journalist Filip Joos who, alongside fellow journalist Daan Heymans, has been praising the youngster.

Doku joined Manchester City in a €60m deal from Stade Rennais in the summer as a direct replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who had left for Saudi Arabia.

The young Belgian has been highly rated for some time but only showed flashes of that in France, which did lead some to question the move from the treble winners.

Any doubts have been quickly washed away, though, with Doku making a flying start to life under Pep Guardiola and even keeping Jack Grealish out of the side.

He’s given Manchester City a new dimension to their attack, adding pace and trickery to a forward line which had been more focused on intricate build up play in the last few years.

Doku has been a big hit and is quickly earning himself fans and plaudits all over, including in his native Belgium.

“It is unfair that he is at Man. City, because they already find space where there is none,” said Filip Joos, laughing.

“As an opponent, you must put 2 defenders on Doku, otherwise you cannot stop him. Then City will find it even easier to find free players elsewhere. It’s really cool, no one expected this.

“Last year Grealish played everything, now he’s not even talked about anymore.

“There is a huge difference in pace between Grealish and Doku. Grealish comes in at a walking pace, while with Doku you are always on the edge of your seat,” added Heymans.
