Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior saw a potential summer move to Sevilla blocked by the Gunners and specifically manager Mikel Arteta.

That’s according to Polish journalist Mateusz Borek, who revealed the details of the failed moved on the Power of Futbolu, relayed by TVP Sport.

Kiwior joined Arsenal in the January transfer window in a €25m deal from Spezia Calcio but has struggled to establish himself since his arrival.

He managed just seven Premier League appearances and 427 minutes of action last season, despite the injury to William Saliba leaving Arsenal short at centre-back. This season he has just three league appearances and 181 minutes.

The 23-year-old is very much on the outside looking in at this moment in time, with the partnership of Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes limiting his chances at centre back.

It appears, though, that he remains a key part of the Arsenal squad, at least as far as Arteta is concerned, as he blocked the player from leaving in the summer when Sevilla pushed for a move.

“We haven’t talked about it publicly, but some time has passed,” explained Borek.

“The topic is no longer hot and in hindsight, no one will be offended if we reveal the name of the club.

“Sevilla really wanted to loan Kiwior to join them in the last transfer window. The club was supposed to fight until the end, but it was not enough to convince the Arsenal coach. Arteta said no to Sevilla. That’s why Kiwior stayed at Arsenal.”

Arsenal are one of the clubs keeping tabs on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, according to Calciomercato.

The striker arrived at the Bundesliga side in the summer and has scored six goals from 12 games this season. On Monday, his agent told Sportitalia that he’d held talks with AC Milan in the past and also left the door open for a future move to the San Siro.

Calciomercato relay that and then add that the 20-year-old is open to joining the Serie A side and the Rossoneri are also in favour of his arrival. However, a deal won’t be easy to carry out because of several factors, including Arsenal’s interest.

The report states the Austria international’s valuation has more than doubled from €20m to ‘no less than’ €45-50m.

Apart from the financial aspect, Stefano Pioli’s side will face ‘fierce’ competition from other clubs, and ‘in particular Arsenal’, to secure his services.

It’s claimed the Gunners have had their eyes on the frontman for a while and have had direct relationship with his camp. The close ties between the two parties may help Arsenal to overcome Milan.

Italian outlet TuttoJuve continues to share some news on Juventus interest in Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey.

Earlier this week, they had already featured a story claiming the Bianconeri have probed the player, who’s said to be keen on leaving the Gunners next year.

Now, TuttoJuve comes up with a new story claiming that Partey’s situation at Arsenal seems to be ‘at a crossroads’, and Juventus could take this ‘opportunity’.

The Old Lady’s intention is said to be to sign the midfielder on a loan deal in January.

Arsenal’s valuation is reportedly €30m, and Juventus are ‘certainly not paying this price’. They’re now looking for a formula to make the operation possible, and that could be a loan with a buying clause.

Partey only made four appearances in the Premier League this season, with a total of 251 minutes on the pitch, with injuries repeatedly leaving him out of games. It seems clear Juventus will try to push for the best possible deal, and we shall see if the Gunners are really willing to negotiate his price.

Gabriel Jesus’ great performance in Arsenal’s win over Sevilla in the Champions League revived an old controversy in Brazil.

After the match, the player was asked whether he deserves to be a starter in the national team, since he’s having an impressive start to the season with the Gunners. That generated many negative comments on social media.

On TNT Sports, correspondent Fred Caldeira gave his opinion on Jesus’ recent form, claiming the Arsenal star deserves more respect.

“Gabriel, as a figure, as this divisor of opinions, I think that the hate on him is absolutely disproportionate,”
said TNT Sports’ Fred Caldeira.

“Even more so than those who follow European football. If I go there, stumble on the corner, the guy who only watches the World Cup, he doesn’t like Gabriel Jesus in the national team, ok, no problem. Now, who follows European football? Gabriel has more goals in the Champions League than Adriano Imperador. Gabriel is the second Brazilian with more goals in the history of the Premier League, behind only Roberto Firmino.

“He would be a starter in most of the main European football clubs. Take Manchester City, Barcelona. Liverpool I think he would be. You will count on your fingers the European football teams that Gabriel would not be or would not fight to be a starter.”

The reason Jesus doesn’t get great support in Brazil is still the 2018 World Cup, as he spent the whole tournament without scoring a single goal. The same happened in the 2022 World Cup, although he played fewer minutes in that one, and got injured in the third game.

Playing for Arsenal this season, the striker has four goals and one assist in 11 appearances. Now that Mikel Arteta announced that the player is about to be sidelined for a few weeks, it seems like he’ll have to wait a little more to get that new chance to prove himself with the national team.

Eddie Nketiah came off the bench in Arsenal’s Champions League victory over Sevilla at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.

After the tie, the Gunners striker was seen having a chat with Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta.

Estadio Deportivo now state the discussion between the Arsenal player and Orta has ‘set off alarms’ and also led to suggestions of a possible deal.

The outlet then wastes no time in dismissing the possibility of the La Liga side trying to sign the 24-year-old in January or next summer.

During the first half of the 2019/20 season, Nketiah was on loan at Leeds United and Orta was then the sporting director at Elland Road.

With regards to their chat earlier this week, the report insists it’s ‘nothing more than a mere detail’ about the two former colleagues having a discussion.

This season, Nketiah has made 13 appearances for Arsenal, managing two goals and an assist in the process. Taking this into account, Estadio Deportivo explain that it ‘seems unthinkable’ for Orta to have talked with Nketiah about a possible move to Sevilla.

Despite the ‘alarm bells’ going off, Estadio Deportivo have put any transfer suggestion to bed immediately.

Arsenal’s Thomas Partey has been pushed forward as one of the options to fix Juventus’ current midfield problems.

The Serie A side are without Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli, and this has seen them look for a new midfielder in January.

Tutto Juve state the Old Lady have probed the Arsenal player who could consider leaving the north London club in the next window.

The Gunners have added Jorginho and Declan Rice to their midfield this year after Granit Xhaka left the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta currently has several options in midfield and has repeatedly used the 30-year-old as a right-back this season. A groin injury forced him to miss six matches and since regaining full fitness earlier this month, he has been restricted to a limited role.

It’s claimed both Partey and his entourage have become ‘increasingly dissatisfied’ with the 30-year-old’s situation at Arsenal. The report adds he could leave the club in the winter market, if the situation doesn’t improve in the coming weeks.

Should the Ghana international choose to leave Arsenal, Juve could become an option and the outlet states they would only consider signing him on a loan deal.

Earlier this month, Fotospor stated Arsenal were one of the clubs who made reservations with Galatasaray to be in attendance for their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

On October 21st, the same outlet reported the Gunners want to watch Sacha Boey closely in the Turkish champions’ derby clash against Beşiktaş.

It’s not clear whether Arsenal monitored the right-back last weekend but Sporx now state they were in Istanbul to follow him in the Champions League tie on Tuesday.

The France U21 international played the full 90 minutes in his side’s 3-1 defeat to Bayern, and the outlet says he ‘played a good game’.

Boey was a target for Mikel Arteta’s side in the last window and back in June, he admitted that it’s “very flattering” to be linked to Arsenal. The fullback had also insisted that he aims to play in the Premier League soon.

According to Sporx, the player is ‘once again admired’ by Arsenal, and they are expected to knock on the Istanbul club’s door with a €20m offer in January.

The defender’s deal lasts until 2025 and it’s not clear whether €20m would be enough to convince Galatasaray to let go of Boey in the winter market.

The Italian media today shares some quite bad news for Arsenal regarding their pursuit of Fiorentina youngster Michael Kayode.

As written by Calcio Mercato, the fullback has just signed a new contract with La Viola, and is committing himself to the club until 2028.

The outlet highlights how, by doing that, the player ‘rejected’ a move to the Premier League, where Arsenal wanted him.

It’s said his performances for Fiorentina had been drawing scouts from several English clubs, and Arsenal were ‘above all’, as they ‘observed’ him more than anyone else and were impressed with his quality.

Contract renewals sometimes work for clubs to protect themselves against the market and to argue for bigger transfer fees. This seems to be a more complicated case, with Calcio Mercato saying the Italian side have absolutely no intention of letting Kayode go so soon.

In reality, that’s probably related to the January window, and next summer would provide a better chance.

Arsenal’s interest had been well known, and it seems the Gunners will have to wait if he remains a target, or they’ll need very good arguments to convince Fiorentina of a sale. The fullback is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €5m, but should cost a few million more.

Arsenal assistant manager Albert Stuivenberg could be an option for Ajax, but only if he was surrounded by people who know the club well.

That’s according to journalist Mikos Gouka, who believes Stuivenberg might have reservations about taking the role at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Ajax are currently on the hunt for their next manager after sacking Maurice Steijn this week following a disastrous start to the season that’s left them in the bottom three.

The hunt is now on for his replacement, but the options appear to be thin on the ground given the situation the club currently finds itself in.

Stuivenberg was named as someone who could be in the picture this week thanks to his links to Louis van Gaal, who is currently working in a consultant role at Ajax and knows Stuivenberg after they worked together at Manchester United.

He’s currently at Arsenal and working as Mikel Arteta’s assistant manager and their current success would make him hesitant to leave the Emirates at this moment in time.

That’s an opinion shared by Gouka, although he does think that there is a window of opportunity if the backroom team was set up right.

“I think of Albert Stuivenberg, although I don’t know if he would do it. He is also more of a Feyenoord boy than an Ajax boy,” he said.

“He sits very close to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. But maybe he says: I’m in a good position at Arsenal, I earn this and that and if all goes well, we’ll conquer the Premier League.

“Why should I go to Ajax? I’m also a Rotterdammer by nature. Maybe that plays a role. You hear that name very rarely, while if you think of a Dutchman who can bring attacking football, then it might be possible.

“If you put a good staff around him with a large, prominent Ajax face in it, then I think it’s possible. The question is: are you looking forward to it as a trainer in an already lost season?”

Last night was certainly memorable for Gabriel Jesus, who led Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Sevilla with a beautiful assist and a gorgeous goal too.

With the win in Spain, the striker helped to keep the Gunners on top of the Champions League’s Group B, with six points after three matches.

It was a big night for him and his team, who bounced back from the disappointing defeat to Lens in the last round in convincing fashion.

After the game, Jesus spoke to the Brazilian media, talking to TNT Sports about Arsenal’s performance.

With the forward doing so well in the Champions League this season, he was asked whether he deserves to wear the number nine for the Brazilian national team again. And he had quite a long answer to that.

“Man, for a long time I was doubting my quality, not for a long time, but obviously after the 2018 World Cup I was doubting a little bit of my quality, of the player that I can be, that I am, of the qualities that I have, what I can evolve,” the striker responded.

“But after the World Cup I realised that football doesn’t give you time to be very happy or very sad, you have to work. And I have been working, I have been evolving. I have been working very hard, both here and in the national team when I am there.

“And about being the number nine, I’m working, I’m in my own, quiet, I close my ears, I have said many times that my greatest quality is obviously not a goalscorer like many attackers, but I can do it, I get there.

“Just as I did before, I will again try to work and come back as strong as possible. And then everything is in the hands of the coach, obviously, as always, but I playing with joy and loose, I think it will always be better for me.”

Gabriel Jesus has four goals scored this season, and three of them were in the Champions League, as he scored in the matches against PSV Eindhoven, Lens and Sevilla.

As Arsenal look fine in the European competition, it’s time for them to switch their focus back to the Premier League, as they play Sheffield United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Depending on other results, the Gunners could be one win away from going to the top of the table.
